Timeline Up is one of those games you constantly see ads of. That one game where you shoot those gates to get more people, faster shooting rate, ect… Freecash offers it directly and is willing to pay you a decent sum, if you’re able to complete hundreds of levels. Is this game worth it?

Gameplay

The gameplay is pretty straightforward. To sum it up, it’s that 1 mobile game ad you constantly see online. But anyways, you start off with 1 stickman. When you start the level you can move it left and right and have it shoot a variety of boosters (faster hit rate, longer range, more stickmen) that can help you throughout the level, but only stay for that level. You win the level, if at least 1 stickman makes it to the bonus area, which is at the end of the level. That’s where you’ll find obstacles crammed together that you need to shoot through.

Progressing through levels is super easy. You can start a level and just leave your character be and it will always make it to the end of the level. Up to now, I haven’t lost a level at all, even though I’m mostly playing idly.

Before you start a level, you can upgrade your stickman army’s damage, number, coins you collect and a booster that increases the amount of stickmen you can collect during a level.

If you can get through all of the obstacles in the bonus area, you can advance to the next era. When you advance to the next era, you lose all your stickmen army upgrades that were mentioned above. At least you do get 5 energy and 25 gems when you advance to the next era. In total there are 5 eras. These are, the prehistoric era, the medieval era, the renaissance era, the modern era and then one more era probably called the space era.

Once you reach the final era, you can then progress to the next timeline. Once you do that, you’ll be set back to the first era, that being the prehistoric era. Apparently, there are upgrades that you can get once you reach timeline 2. There are also other game modes that can be unlocked at timeline 3, 4, 5 and 6. As of writing this, I’m still in timeline 1.

Bottlenecks

You only have a maximum of 10 energy. It costs 1 energy to play a level. So at most you can complete 10 levels until you need to wait for your energy to recharge. You can watch ads but you’re limited to 2 per day and each one only gives you 2 energy. You have to wait 1 whole hour for 1 energy to recharge.

If you’re someone who only wants to play the game once per day, that means you’d only be able to advance through 14 levels (unless you happen to advance to the next era, then you could get a bit further).

What’s also annoying, is that there’s an ad once you complete a level. Depending on the ad you get, it’s faster to close and reopen the app, however every time you open the app, you’re greeted by at least 2 in-app purchase offers to buy gems or energy or whatever.

Tips

Try to make sure you use up all your energy. Play 2-3 times a day so that you can maximize your energy and progress 28 levels each day (assuming you watch the 2 rewarded ads for 4 extra energy in total). Doing so will get you at least to level 840, assuming you can’t progress to another era or timeline.

If you can, try to progress to the next era or timeline. Doing so will give you a bonus of 5 energy. This will require you to at the very least be attentive of your upgrades at the start menu.

Try to gather as many gems as you can. You can use these later on as you get into further timelines. Save them for timeline 4 once you unlock champions.

FreeCash Tasks

There are 2 types of tasks. The play and progress tasks and the reach a specific level tasks. All tasks need to be completed within 30 days of installing the app.

Play and Progress Tasks

I’m not quite sure how the progress and play tasks are calculated. For most games, I believe it’s a mix of time spent on the game as well as how much you interact with the game during that time. What I do know, is that they take forever to complete.

Update: The Play and Progress tasks for me at least didn’t progress AT ALL.

Specific Level Tasks

As for the specific level tasks. Let’s disregard the extra energy you get for progressing to the next era or other energy bonuses. Now if you play once every 8-10 hours, over these 30 days, you can use up 24 energy per day. Now if you watch the 2 bonus ads too each day, that’s another 4 energy per day. So if you progress 28 levels per day, that’s 840 levels over the 30 days.

If you play idly like I have been, the way I see it, there’s no way you can reach the last 3 tasks within 30 days. That means $25 can’t be earned through idle play. You’ll need to actively play at least some levels to make sure you can progress through the eras / timelines or at the very least earn more coins than you would idly to get more upgrades.

How the offer’s been going

I’ll be regularly updating my progress with the offer. I’ll let you know what milestones I’ve reached, as well as how much time was spent on the app. The amount of time could be inaccurate, as my playstyle usually involves starting a level and then checking my phone a few minutes later.

I installed the app and managed to reach level 10, which earned me $0.025.

Day 2 – August 3rd 2025

I managed to reach level 50, which earned me $0.063.
The app was open for 1 hour and 1 minute.

Day 3 – August 4th 2025

No FreeCash tasks were completed today.

Day 4 – August 5th 2025

I’m currently on level 100. I’m currently in timeline 1 in the modern era (4/5).

Day 5 – August 6th 2025

I’m currently on level 115. I just reached the next era, being the space era (5/5), although I’m still on timeline 1. I still haven’t made any progress at all with any play and progress tasks. I assume I’ll need to advance to the next timeline to make progress on those tasks.

Today I created a ticket on Freecash as I still haven’t received credit for reaching level 150. Also all the play and progress bars aren’t filling up at all so I also inquired about that too.

Conclusion – Earnings, Effort + Personal Opinion

In total, I’ve made $1.163. The app has been open for 28 hours and 4 minutes. This averages out to $0.04 / hour.

The amount of time that is spent actively using the app is nowhere near this amount, as my playstyle usually involves starting a level and then check my phone a few minutes later. While $1 is barely anything, considering that this game basically plays itself, I’d say it wasn’t too bad.

I would defnitely say that there are far better ways to make $1. This game is just good for people who don’t mind starting a level on their phone, checking it after 2 minutes to start another level and repeating that process 20+ times each day.
